Next Time You're Lost

Sometimes I'm on a backroad and I completely loose track of north/south. I strain to find the sun out the window.
Now, along comes another option.

My daughter and son-in-law live in the country in North West Missouri. Their deck overlooks pasture land and faces north. It seems that the cattle in the pastures behind them do face the same direction, but usually east/west. Maybe like Africa, Northwest Missouri also has a weaker magnetic field.

Bovine observations will be a family project this Labor Day weekend as we enjoy our morning coffee on their deck. We'll check this out.

PS. The cattle in that pasture, all cows, have been given the name of "Herd of Lesbian Cows". One morning while enjoying coffee on the deck, we observed some of them --uh--- behaving like bulls. With the other cows in the herd. So perhaps that herd has all kinds of orientation issues.
