A Hint at a Future Book

Here's a hint
at the topic of a book I'm working on.
Happy clicking....

Sounds like it could be something completely different from what you have written before. I can't wait. I assume Killer Weekend, a new Boldt, and then this one?

Hey Carol- Nice job trying to get some info on a new Boldt!

Ridley, sounds interesting, and as always, if you write it, we will read it.

NO word on the next Boldt, although I'm doing research for it. It's up to Putnam to WANT a Boldt book. Right now they're into the Sun Valley books.

Ridley- Good to see you are able to post after seeing the weather report! We may actually get some of that icy mess here in Houston.

I think we're getting the picture about Boldt. It is frustrating to think that we the fans want a Boldt, and you the author sound willing to give it to us, and yet no Boldt. Sounds like Putnam doesn't get it. How do we convince them if you can't?

You know we'll love the new guy, but just like Daphney, we won't be able to get Boldt out of our hearts or our minds.

I think it's all timing. I need a big success with Killer Weekend (so spread the word) and Power Struggle, next year's thriller; I think they might give me a Boldt if I can hit homeruns with those two. What a business...

if I can hit homeruns

So, it would be safe for one to say that you can't get a homerun by bunting for a Boldt?

Ridley, sorry in advance for posting this here, but I don't think anyone is scrolling down past the whale barf to see "Other authors" etc. LOL.

When Ridley said he was reading TJefferson Parkers new book, I thought oooh good time to use those gift cards. When I went to B&N I realized that Ridley is, well, Ridley and gets advanced copies! Yikes, it's not out until Feb. So, I bought The Blue Hour and just loved it. Didn't think I was going to buy a romance between a 35 yr old woman and a 67 yr old man, but it was so complicated, it was good!

What is everyone else reading? Dean, I know you're reading something good. Let us know.

Also wanted to say something about the movie "Pan's Labyrinth". Wow. Saw it this weekend. It's like nothing I've ever seen. In the vein of Magical Realism, flows back and forth between myth, fantasy & horrific reality. Had to close my eyes a couple of times. One review said, "It's brutal, depressingly bleak & triumphantly hopeful. " Also visually stunning. Sub titled in Spanish. Absolutely NOT a kids fairy tale. If you want to see something that's not a blockbuster(although I love a good blockbuster) this is really good.

Pam et al,
I just finished Dean Koontz's Brother Odd, third in his Odd series. I enjoyed it, although the first Odd book is still my favorite. I also finished Nelson DeMille's Wild Fire. Terrific. If you haven't read DeMille before try his John Corey books. All his stuff is good, but John Corey is special. I am now reading Florida Roadkill by Tim Dorsey. It's just a crazy trip thru Florida with crazy people in control. One reviewer said that Dorsey is a combination of Hiaasen, Dave Barry, and Elmore Leonard. Get the idea?

Ridley, could some cleaning up of the blog be done? Like Pam, I posted here because it doesn't seem like anyone looks beyond that green thing. I still even look and post in a August 'Just Talk' thread.

I am going to email Nancy and ask her as well. Maybe a Just Talk for each month, plus other topics?

It would be great not to have to go thru each month to find something.

Thanks for the ear.

Ridley, your piece in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch last week about Art Buchwald was priceless.

Thank you.
